They have revamped the grid functionality to streamline workflows and boost productivity. Here’s what’s new:

Resize Rows and Columns Effortlessly

Now, resizing rows and columns is simpler than ever. Users can hover over the border of a row or column header, grab the handles, and drag to resize them as needed.

Simplified Insertion of Rows and Columns

Adding rows or columns is now a breeze with the updated interface. Users can hover over the row or column header, select the small circles that appear, which convert to a "+" sign on hover, and effortlessly insert where needed.

Streamlined Unhide Feature

Users can easily reveal hidden rows or columns with a single click, giving instant access to the complete dataset. Just hover over the row or column header and select the small arrows that appear.

Freeze Panes for Enhanced Navigation

Users can keep essential headers or columns in view while scrolling through their spreadsheet by freezing panes. Simply drag the handles in the top left corner of the header to the desired position.

Drag and Drop for Rearranging Elements

Organizing the worksheet is effortless with drag-and-drop functionality for rows or columns. Users can select any element, drag it when the cursor shows the hand icon, and drop it next to another element.

Highlight Cells for Clarity

Highlighting critical cells to emphasize important information and improve readability is easier than ever. Users can simply select a row, column, range of cells, or individual cell to apply this feature.

Availability

These exciting features are currently rolling out to all users of Excel for the web.

If you don't see them yet, don’t worry! Features are gradually released to ensure a smooth experience for all users. Feedback is valuable for refining and improving these updates. Occasionally, features may be temporarily removed for further enhancements based on user input.
